Hi,

I have seen that this error message appears in various places, and is discussed sometimes on the net, but I cannot find an answer that suits my setup. I have a workspace with a number of projects (which is probably a bad idea I know), and for some reason I have not not been able to start Eclipse correctly and keep getting this message: Cannot create extension: org.eclipse.ui there is a lot of other information there. I can start Eclipse ok with an empty workspace.

Is there any information out there or any method I can use to fix this problem?

Having a lot of projects in the workspace is not, itself, a problem. Append that information--we're just going to be guessing, otherwise.
