The thread about the symbols made me clear something is wrong here:
Eclipse’s help does no longer work.

When I click Help -> Help contents, I get a waiting cursor for a moment,
then nothing happens.

I have a localised Eclipse for Dutch, on SuSe 10.2. Any ideas?

H.

Just a shout. Do you have the browser option set to external? If so, then
do you have a web browser open elsewhere on your desktop. Again if so,
switch to the browser after opening help and see if Eclipse help is
displayed there. I switched to using the external browser on Ubuntu because
of crash problems with the internal browser. Initially, I thought that help
wasn't working. Eventually, I switched to an open FireFox window and
discovered several tabs all showing Eclipse help.

Good one. I have external webbrowser enabled, since the internal one is
not available (I got Eclipse over suse package manager, it splits it up
in pieces).

It was set to Firefox. When I set it to default system browser, it
opens a new Firefox window (which I hate, one window is enough), but it
is blank. So close, but no cigar.

Setting it to Konqueror opens up a K window with the help. So somehow
FF and E do not work nicely together. Hm.

More ideas?

TIA, H.
