I did some searching and there is a lot of information on this site. Almost too much. I've started using Eclipse at work on my Windows 7 machine using JAVA. I am working on my masters online and would like to use Eclipse at home. My setup at home is also a Win7 system. But, I use Cygwin for a Linux instance. I have been primarily using C/C++ for my projects. But my current class wants us to also use SCALA. So here are my questions.

1. Which packages do I need to download and install??
2. Do I install them as a Windows machine then changes some setting so it will also work, compile, run, debug, in a Cygwin environment?? Or install them from the Cygwin terminal and run eclipse from the command line ??

Basically I'm looking for any/all advice on setting up Eclipse at home to help me work on school projects. Thanks in advance for any/all assistance.

Scala is a JVM language, meaning it's compiled to Java machine code and
interpreted by the Java Virtual Machine. Your experience so far with
C/C++ is totally unrelated to what you'll be doing in Scala, in
particular, Cygwin does not apply necessarily as it does for Eclipse CDT
work. What you've got for Java will accommodate Scala. However, you may
not get help in this forum for Scala using Eclipse. I would suggest
http://scala-ide.org/ and whatever community support they recommend
(there's a user mailing list).
