Need to customise .gmfgen generation template [message #201970] Thu, 14 August 2008 11:22 Go to next message

Hi,

I need to customize the template that generates .gmfgen file out of the
gmfmap file. I need this because the current generator overrides my
manual changes to the .gmfgen file. Where is this template located and
how can I modify it?

Thanks in advance,
Kalin

Hi Kalin,

If you can't find the answer to this, I just use diff in Eclipse to
merge my changes manually. It's not ideal but it will suffice until the
GMF team addresses this problem (or adds more parameters to the
generation files perhaps?)

Hello Kalin,

For now you have to extens DiagramGenModelTransformer class. In future we
will use .qvto transformation script for it.

Hey Alex,

is this problem now solved in Galileo? As I understand, you now use
there real model transformations with QVTO, don't you?

Does this anyhow affect the merging of a customized gmfgen model and a
mapping model?

I still have the problem that I have a customized gmfgen and have to
reapply the transformation of the mapping model to the gmfgen. This
usually destroys most of my customizations and I have to do them again...

Cheers,
Hauke

Hello Hauke,

Yes, it is possible to use QVTO in the latest released GMF - see "Map to
Gen transformation/Use QVTO transformation" option in .gmfmap->.gmfgen transformation
wizard + org.eclipse.gmf.bridge/transforms/Map2Gen.qvto

Is there an example somewhere that uses such an in-place transformation?
