This really isn't an Eclipse question though it is one that plagues some
Linux users of Eclipse. I abandoned SuSE a few years back for Ubuntu so
I can't speak directly to that Linux distro. For that, you'd have to
visit a SuSE forum. (This is the responsible answer; for less compelling
musings, read on...)
My opinion is that, yes, you do want to run Java 7 and you can and
should be able to run OpenJDK.
However, I found this page which seems to suggest that, in some cases,
you'll want a proper Sun JDK. For what it's worth:
