creating a new key combination for a WTP command [message #200896] Mon, 01 October 2007 18:57 Go to next message

How would I do this? Can I unzip a jar to edit the plugin.xml? If so, which jar
would it be and what command for mapping a key combination to the 'publish'
button on the servers view?

Thanks
Adam

AFAIK I should be able to go into one of the WTP jars in the eclipse
installation to configure my desired key combination to the appropriate WTP
plugin.xml file.

Am I totally misguided here? Any answer would be most welcome.

You can create a custom binding for any command. You don't have to
modify jars, or plugin.xml files to do this. Just do a search in the
Eclipse help for "key bindings" or "assigning custom key bindings".
This should get you going.

Well I hope you can create a custom binding for any command, but it's not in the
General->Keys menu, even if you check the "include unbound commands" and
uncheck all the advanced filter options.

This Keys menu /just doesn't contain/ the 'publish' button.

Check it out.

I am asking about jars and plugin.xml files because that's what I was told would
be the most likely solution (on another eclipse list).

But thanks for answering! I was beginning to think this must be some sort of
taboo subject.

I would suggest opening a bug/feature request in WTP to make this
available if it currently isn't. Unfortunately there are really only a
handful of the community and committer members that are active in these
forums, so it may take a while for a question to answered.

The bug requests are monitored a lot more closely in WST/WTP than the
newsgroups unfortunately.
