Code Templates Not Working [message #1222110]

Eclipse User

So trying to hit ctrl-space to use a code template or content assist and I get the error "This compilation unit is not on the build path of a java project".

I am remoting (SFTPing) to the .java file. I do not have a java project.

Can't Eclipse just recondize its a .java file and give the templates and content assist?
