This is a meta question regarding the forums in general.

I've been trying to find clues about a topic which I'm sure must have been discussed in a forum, but the search functionality is probably the worst I've ever seen so far among many technical forums.

I've been testing it by copying a line or some text from a message and searching for it using the search facility and I get no results at all.

These forums contain rich information, answers to questions which I'm very likely to be asking Nth time, but I can't seem to search for relevant content.

Is there another form (like a mail archive) of these forums that is more search friendly? An archive?

Apologies for the negative tone, but this is such a frustrating waste of valuable content.

Regards
Seref

The content of the Eclipse forums is exposed to the web at large. If you
use a search engine such as Google to find something, you're also
searching the questions and answers in the Eclipse forums. I say this
based on personal experience.

Thanks,
This is indeed the only way that is working for me. But compared to a proper search mechanism native to forum software, it is way too inefficient.

I was half hoping that I was missing something.

Oft times, seaching this way gets more and sometimes better answers as
you have access to Eclipse solutions posted in other forums like
stackoverflow. So, while it appears less efficient, I think it makes up
for it in that you get relevant content from other forums, plus you're
searching blog posts, tutorials, etc. that you wouldn't have access to
search from the "native" forum.

Best of luck to you, Seref!
