Hi, i am using eclipse for a while and feel astunnished by that free ide.
Thanx a lot to the developers, would spend them a beer - but than i would
be broke within minutes i figure.

But i have question. Right now i am working in a projekt, have several
files open and just realized, that i have to open up some other files for
doing some changes in the same projekt but under a nother context. can i
switch to another -perspective- or so, keeping the current open files in
memory so that i can get later on back to them?

Dont know how to do that or if i hust missed a feature ?

Cheers
ingo

Ingo,

Perspectives will share the same open files. Try clicking on the first
icon in the upper right tab; this tab controls all your perspectives and
lets you open new ones.

Hi,

didnt got me right...

I know what perspectives are and what they are used for... Java, SVN
Exploring et cetera. I want to know if i can save the line of open files
into a buffer, work on a second buffer with different files, go back to
the first buffer and have my set of initialy used files restored...

Is there such a feature ?
Ingo

Such a file-set feature doesn't exist yet in eclipse (see
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=105896) but there is a
plugin to have such a function by Andrei Loskutov (see bug comment #6).

But i really want to point you to Mylar: eclipse.org/mylar
There you can activate a task, work on it and when you switch to another
task, mylar remembers your settings (like opened files) when coming back
to that task.

Hope this helps
Benny

As someone else suggested, Mylar is a nice extension to Eclipse that can
support what you're trying to do.
A simpler approach is to use the menu command Window > New Window which
will open a new Workbench window on the same workspace - the second
window can have different editors, views, and perspectives open than the
original.

Hope this helps,
Eric
