Hi folks,

I've been recently looking for a eclipse based database designer which
would enable the user to visually design the database using ER or
Relationship model. The only solutions I've found were the commercial ones
from the company Visual Paradigm. Could anyone point me to some existing
projects or ideas in this field?

Namely I'm planning to do this project with few other student as part of
my Bachelor degree thesis. We've planned some thing like support for ORM,
wizard for normalizing the database and many more.

Thanks for the info,

Esad Hajdarevic, TU Vienna

the best free option I know is Clay Database Modeller, from
http://www.azzurri.jp/en/software/clay/index.jsp. However, it is not
open source.

There is also a rather basic open source "schema viewer" at
http://dbschemaviewer.sourceforge.net.

It is not clear from your message what you are looking for. Do you need
a ready-made tool, or do you plan to write one yourself?

Hi,

Thanks for the links! Our idea is an open-source db modelling tool based
on eclipse/GEF that may later become an eclipse project
