Hi Everyone,

I just download the Visual Editor 1.2.2 for Eclipse but I do not know how
to install it ! Although the Visual Editor has FAQs for the installation
but it is for the version 1.1.0.1 (old version). If anyone knows how to do
it, could you please show me how ?!

Thank you !

Hi Enger,

You have to unzip the downloaded archive with VE. In the unpacked folder
you should see two directories: features and plugins. You have to copy
content of dir features to $ECLIPSE_HOME/features and content of dir
plugins to $ECLIPSE_HOME/plugins.

Let me know if it helps :)

regards,

Thank for your advice ! I already did as you say but after I run Eclipse
again, there is nothing affected :( In my new project menu, I see no
Visual Editor Project or even in Preferences/Java, no Visual Editor
setting ! Seemingly it does not recognize the plug-in folder of Eclipse
each time restarting !!!

Do you have any suggestion ?

Thank you !

Enger,

Maybe you need to run "eclipse.exe -clean" to refresh the configuration
after adding new things.

There is no such thing as a Visual Editor Project, there is only a New
Visual Class wizard. If all you downloaded was the visual editor, then
you are probably missing several plugins that the visual editor requires.

The easiest was to install the Visual Editor is to use the Eclipse Update
Manager and select the Calisto update site. This will allow you to
automatically select required plugins when downloading.

Enger,

Dave makes a good point. You're sure you've installed all the required
prereqs listed in the "Requirements: PLEASE READ THIS SECTION FIRST"
section of the download page? Have you looked at the Error log for
clues about that?

I have read the prerequisites before installing Visual Editor. I also
download and unzip them into Eclipse folder. I try using the Update
Manager but it shows "Current Configuration Problems" when I choose to
install Java Development/Visual Editor in Callisto Update Site. Do you
have any suggestion ?

Thank you.

Enger,

You've looked at the Error log and there are no clues there about
disabled plugins or missing prerequisites?

Enger,

The support for graphical UML editing is just getting off the ground.
