Hello
First I would like to appology in this is not the correct place where to
place my question. Please redirect me to the correct location.
I request your help for a strange behaviour regarding the Update Manager.
I'm using Eclipse 3.2.1 under Windows XP, and I'm behind a HTTP proxy. The
first time I use the update manager it works fine. But as long as I add
update sites (CTD, EMF, Eclox, ...) it becomes slower and slower. Now,
with arround 15 entries in the list, it takes more than 10 minutes just to
open the update manager ("Find and Install"). The other entry "Manage
Configuration" works pretty well, especially the "Find Update" menu items.
After being able to enter inside the update manager, to add a new entry,
it takes another 10 minutes each time I press ok after entering the name
and the adress of a new update site. I tryed with different configuration
(disabling the automatic selection of a mirror,...) and it always result
to the same hangs. It doesn't log anything special in the .metadata/log
file. Just hangs, and wait for something.
I've raised a bug (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=166810)
but it doesn't seem to be followed. It seems to look like other bug report
(156077, 117708).
Does anyone as a workarround this very annoying problem? Is it possible to
deploy a local update site that would mirror different ones (to avoid lot
of connection to Internet to the same update sites).
Thanks
