Future of the WTP version of the SQL model [message #186097] Fri, 12 January 2007 14:20

Hi,

In our project, we are currently using the SQL model of WTP
(org.eclipse.wst.rdb.models.sql), as well as the Database Explorer to
browse through database meta data.

As I understood from the WTP roadmap, one goal is to remove all database
related functionality from WTP for 2.0.

Now our question is whether it makes sense and is safe to migrate to the
DTP version of the SQL model (org.eclipse.datatools.modelbase.sql) and
use the Data Source Explorer instead? Are there differences between the
WTP and the DTP models (besides the package names and namespace)?

Thanks and regards
Tillmann
