I am lookging for the proper way to programmatically override the Eclipse
main menu Help->Welcome submenu so I can have it get to my Welcome instead

I have been looking for ways via PlatformUI.getWorkBench() to find the
object so I can retarget (or whatever it may be called) the submenu to my
own Welcome.
I am farily new to both Eclipse and Jave so any help would be appreciated.

You probably want to take a look at the information about product
branding and the product configuration editor in the Eclipse help. If
you open the help contents and search on 'welcome' you'll see a product
branding entry about half-way down the list of results. There's an icon
in the upper right toolbar of the help window that will show it in the
table of contents.
