No, the 1.5.x stream never would (unless we hear of an abolute need for it from WTP's point of view)
since it is a minor update (2.8.x --> 2.9.0) not just maintenance, so could in theory break adopters.
We probably will attempt an update in WTP 2.0 ... but, I'd certainly feel better if someone (egh emm)
opened a bug/feature request explaining why that would be important.

At this time, I am not aware of a justification for the upgrade. The
question was intended as a "heads up" planning item. If WTP is upgrading,
then maybe I would need to look closer at the new XERCES.
I'll be happy to post a feature request, but the only real justification I
can offer is that there is generally more support for current releases.
