update site but since the update has been broken the last three days

At the risk of posing a newbie question, have anyone a suggestion on how
to install the Webtools package from the distribution zip-files in a way
that won't interfere with performing updates from the update site when
it's fixed? Anything in particular I should think of when installing it?

Any pointer to where this information can be found is highly appreciated
as I suspect this is something of a faq...
