Hi,
I've downloaded Eclipse, and got "Hello World" working. Great.
Now I've downloaded the GEF examples, and, as instructed,
unzipped them into my "main Eclipse" directory. (I presume that this
means the subdirectory called "eclipse" of the top-level eclipse
directory
(ie. eclipse-SDK-3.0.1-win32/eclipse/)). All seems to have gone fine.
But when I do Ctrl-N, the wizard does not have an "Examples" Folder
as indicated in the instructions. I've tried a few other things, but
don't want to mess up the installation.
All I want to do is run the examples....
Can someone help?
Thanks.
The instructions say:
Download and unzip the latest 3.1 GEF Examples from the GEF Project
Downloads into your main Eclipse directory. To create a new diagram, launch
the wizard by pressing Ctrl-N. Expand the Examples folder and select Shapes
Diagram.

Actually, the build process has changed so that the zip now includes the
eclipse directory. So, you want to unzip in eclipse folder's parent
directory. The FAQs have been updated.

Thanks,
I've tried that too, but when I do a Ctrl-N, I get the following choice:
Class
Extension Point Schema
Interface
Java Project
Plug-in Project
(+)CVS
(+)Java
(+)Plug-in Development
(+)Simple
No sign of Examples, as indicated in the instructions...
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Are the plug-ins activated in the About dialog? Any warnings/errors in the
error log? The versions of GEF and examples that you're using are the same,
right?

Not sure what's going on. Try creating a new file with the .shapes
extension or the .logic extension and see if they open up in GEF editors.
Also, just to make sure, you got both the SDK zip and the Examples zip from
the download page, right?

Actually, the shapes example was not in 3.0.1, so just try the logic
extension.

I thought the new method was to create a plugin project, then use the
import external plugin or some such to import the example jars into your
plugin project.
of course that dont allow manipulation of the source.

Hi again,
I have re-installed the whole thing and now it all works fine.
I had installed the GEF SDK, but in the wrong subdirectory,
as a result of accepting Windows default unzip target folder suggestion.
(I normally use Linux, which doesn't make such suggestions)
Thanks Pratik for all your help,
