HTML widget control [message #157344] Tue, 09 November 2004 01:08 Go to next message

I have seen lot of messages on HTML editor. But just wondering has anyone
developed HTML widget control which I can put it on SWT form/composite. I
don't need any complete HTML functionality either. Just need the basic
functionality. I can probably extend that if I need any additional
functionality.

Also, I read on GEF site (project plan) somewhere, that they are rolling
out this control in future release. Can somebody provide more information
on that -like requirements, schedule etc.

Thanks in advance.

There is such a browser widget in SWT but it depends on an installed native
browser.

We are "rolling out" text editing functionality in 3.1. HTML is considered
a potential use case, and we want to make it possible to create an excellent
HTML editor. But we have no plans to create that editor.

What kind of requirements do you have for text editing functionality ?
Are you planning have a separate widget control which will have these
functionality ?

FYI - I am aware of SWT browser widget and am not looking for that.

There is a proposal available at:

I don't think that this will be a seperate widget control. Randy is talking
about Draw2D/GEF functionallity. However, you are free to use this
everywhere where you can create a Canvas. That's the underlying SWT widget.
