Does anyone have any experience in using BIRT to provide differences between one version of a document and another. ?

I am for example talking about change bars in the margin which shows which parts of the document has changed since the previous version.

It does not necessarily have to match this implementation but something that can indicate to the user that this part of the document has changed since the previous release.

What format are you rendering the reports in? If it's a PDF there might be some software that you can use to compare the two documents and return the differences.
