Hope, I'm posting in the appropriate portal.

I am writing a student paper on Open-Source-BI-Tools but IŽm relatively
new to this topic. I was wondering, where I can get basic informations
about BIRT. Information like "What DBs are supported", "What kind of
interfaces are used for data integration (JDBC of course, also ODBC?, OLE
DB for OLAP?, Hyperion Essbase?)", "Can you build reports in a web
environment (like Microstrategy does)? ", "How does BIRT handle
Metadata?", "Can you generate Reports automatically (f.e. every week, or
e.g. as a warning on the basis of a very bad management ratio)".

I try to answer dozens of such questions but I am really having
difficulties to find reliable answers.

Thanks for your help.
