I was debugging an android application when a window with all the essential information was shown. Yet I closed the window somehow acidentially. Now I can't restore (open) this window, since I've no idea how it was named, and eclipse doesn't provide any hint where I have to look for. Is there a command which allows to restore any default views/perspectives so I don't have to ask such a silly question here?

Closing any window in eclipse and not knowing how to restore it is one of the main annoyances. Closing is just much to easy so there must be something which allows to lock out the close. Or there has to be any hint which window should (is adviced to) be open in certain contextes.

First, you should realize that Android development is done on Eclipse,
but Eclipse has nothing to do with the plug-ins that constitute ADT.

Could it be that you've closed the Debug perspective? This would be the
perspective that hosts the LogCat view.

To re-open the Debug Perspective, do Window -> Show Perspective -> Debug.

Or did you close the LogCat view (assuming LogCat is the view you're
describing as missing)? I don't have ADT installed anymore, but getting
LogCat back might be as simple as:

1. Select the Debug Perspective.
2. Do Window -> Show View -> Other... -> Android Tools (?) -> LogCat.

Sorry I don't know more (or better). I hope this helps. You should read
the following sticky post from the top of this forum:

Best of luck.

No. The debug perspective doesn't look like the window I had, neither does any of the other perspective I think might fit. It looked like an emulator or similar.

Also no.

So far I haven't found any answer there.

I didn't get "emulator" from your original description, but now that you
say so, I can easily say that you'll get no help on that issue from any
where in this forum. You need to visit one or more of the forums listed
in the post I just gave you. Android isn't Eclipse, Eclipse isn't
Android, so you'll have to take it up with them. A couple of years ago,
I developed Android software on Eclipse. It was a successful undertaking
and I had a lot of good luck asking questions in those forums, so I
don't feel like I'm letting you down by suggesting you go there.
