I am using Eclipse 3.1 on multiple computers. My laptop, home and work
computers.
I would like to copy the java editor, code formater and perspective settings
from my
lap top to the two desktops. Is there a way to do this without having to
change the settings
manually on each of the computers.

I believe all of these settings are kept in files in
.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.runtime/.settings
inside your workspace. Copy the files that seem relevant or even the
entire settings directory from your workspace on one computer to your
workspace on another.

Look at File->Export->General->Preferences. This exports your
preferences to a single file. You can use
File->Import->General->Preferences to copy the settings into the other
workspaces.
