Hi,
MARTE doesn't add to the semantics of associations as defined by UML.
At least, not in this particular aspect.
An association that is navigable in one direction describes a run-time
link between between two objects in which the object at one end has
some kind of reference/handle/pointer (whatever, depending on the
programming language) by which it can access the object at the other
end, but the object at the other end has no such way to access the
object at the first end.
Of course, associations can be derived by various means, including
searching paths of associations through other objects, so it isn't just
as simple as a reference.
