Eclipse Indigo surprised me by failing to execute. It flashes the splash screen then exits. This is the third or fourth time this has happened since August. Each time this is associated with an unasked for update to Java. Java was updated on 1/4/2013 now Eclipse Indigo fails.
Previously reinstalling Eclipse corrected the problem. This time not.
Following the instructions to specify a vm in the eclipse.ini file either gives an error that Java has exited with code -1, or that no java virtual machine can be found, depending on if the path to javaw.exe or jvm.dll is specified. Since Eclipse has worked previously, it doesn't seem that not specifying the vm is the root cause of the problem.
Unfortunately I have a large investment in Java code that is now dead in the water...
