is it possible to use workspace and/or somehow mount EFS in RAP?

Jan,

the org.eclipse.resources plug-in and related plug-ins are not
adopted by RAP. However it is possible to use then as-is if that
fits your needs. Note that in this case all sessions share the
single workspace instance (ResourcesPlugin#getWorkspace()).
