The MetaCoder plugin version 1.0 has just been release (
http://metacoder.info ). Using this as a statement of direction I would like
collaborate with other developers in producing a "State of the art" Open
Source XML/XSLT Code Generation Development Perspective.

For starters,

Base lining

A frank and open discussion on Code Generation as it applies to the software
development process

The Pro's and Con's of XML/XSLT based generators

The Pro's and Con's of MetaCoder's specific implementation

Moving things forward

What do we want to change?

The incorporation of a UML type Modelling interface. On the basis that
unless the UML construct is directly render able as code it is meaningless
for our purposes?

XML import from non-XML sources. Java source/class. Database Meta Data,
Antlr parser for regular text documents?

What existing plug-ins can be tailored to improve Meta-Code development
productivity?

Should there be enough support for the idea the intent would be to create an
official sub project.

To that end join me and post your comments and suggestions

Best

Tayo

P.S. Hat's off to IBM for what they have started by open sourcing eclipse.
In my humble opinion it was an inspired decision and forms an inspiring
foundation for developing ideas.

I always thought it'd be fun (and productive) to
write the code generator using the code generator
itself. Once you've created a minimal set of
bootstraping classes, you can use the tool to
write the tool. Kinda like the idea behind eclipse.

Do you have any plans for that?

Interesting idea ;-)

Could you expand a little on how it would work?
