Should I look at abandoning Eclipse? I teach an intermediate-level C++ programming course and have spent most of my time dealing with the massive number of bugs and design flaws introduced in Eclipse Juno. Today I installed the updates, assuming this new release would fix some of these problems. Instead, it completely trashed the entire installation and is not unusable. I'm going to have to reinstall from scratch, now.

Do they do any testing anymore? I don't have an unusual installation, just Ubuntu, Eclipse, CDT, and Subversion. I have used Eclipse for years. I routinely update to the latest version every year. How could this version be such a disaster? I want to know how something like this happens. Is the problem in the CDT or Eclipse in general? I once considered Eclipse one of the best IDE's around. Now it appears to be one of the worst!

Hello Charles,

why do you "MUST" switch to Eclipse 4.x?
You could stay with Eclipse 3.8.x (at least until 4.x is OK for you):
