Hello,

I'm trying to get "Execution Time Analysis" for an "Eclipse Application"=
=

(hosted workbench) to work in Eclipse 3.3.1.1, Linux, having downloaded =
=

the TPTP 4.4.1 SDK and installed the prerequisite plugins. I thought tha=
t =

the integrated agent controller caused problems, so I turned it off in =

Preferences. However, now I'm getting pretty much the same problems with=
=

the standalone agent controller. Likewise, I switching between Java =

1.5.0_03 and 1.6.0_04 doesn't help.

"Test Availability" reports success. Profiling a HelloWorld Java app wor=
ks =

ok.

However, trying to profile the hosted workbench brings the error dialog =
=

"Agent Controller is unavailable under port 10002" (lies). Looking at =

servicelog.log of the standalone agent controller is a bit difficult, as=
=

it can't be imported:

org.eclipse.hyades.logging.parsers.LogParserException: IWAT0412E Errors =

occurred parsing the log file =

So it's back to the good old vim and grep combo. Anyway, I see the =

following high-severity log entries:

Any ideas why 'ptrace()' is failing and what I could try?

This happened to me today. I had accidentally set the debug option

-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8001,server=y,suspend= n

as well as the profiling options. These are incompatible; you can debug
or profile, but not both at the same time.

After removing the debug option, profiling worked for me (Fedora 7 with
compatibility lib., JVM 1.6.0_02).
