I'm kind of new to java and eclipse. I've installed:

eclipse 3.1.2
ve 1.2.0.v20060407_S
gef 3.1.1
emf (sdo) 2.1.1

Do I need to install something else to have a proper use of the visual
editor?
Will I be able to create some GUI with the visual editor?
Do you know where I can find some tutorial for the ve?

Nick,

VE 1.2 is not compatible with Eclipse 3.1. You'll have to use VE
1.1.0.1. Once it's installed properly, there will be tutorials and
documentation on using the VE in the Eclipse help, or online here:
http://help.eclipse.org/help31/topic/org.eclipse.ve.doc/topi cs/tve_overview.html
