Hello everyone,
none of the available encodings (ISO-8859-1, US-ASCII, UTF-16, UTF-16BE, UTF-16LE, UTF-8) is capable of displaying all special characters properly. Affected are in particular box drawing characters, starting with U+2500.
The remote system's $LANG is en_GB.UTF-8. The OS is Debian Wheezy. Using PuTTY each and every character seems to be correct.
Putty's settings:
Remote character set: UTF-8
Handling of line drawing characters: Use Unicode for line drawing
Terminal-type string: linux
The Function keys and keypad: Linux
Is it possible to extend the list of selectable encodings or is there any other solution to my problem?
Cheers!
