Linux System Trace - What does it do? [message #120403] Wed, 09 January 2008 19:45

I have a group of linux based webservers (RHEL 4) that I need to monitor
system stats (CPU, load, disk io, net io, etc) while doing performance
tests. The servers are running PHP based apps, not java.

Can the Linux System Trace agent do this for me? If so, can somebody point
to a spot in the docs or a tutorial on how to get that rolling? So far I
haven't been able to figure it out.

Basically I want to replicate Windows PerfMon functionality. I have looked
through the tutorials and presentations on TPTP that I can find, but they
never seem to touch on that type of monitoring...just profiling Java apps.
:-)

Can anybody shed some light on this area? Thanks!
