Hi

I downloaded 'Eclipse Classic 3.7.2' (Windows 32 bit) from the URL 'eclipse.org/downloads/'. Post extraction, during the installation, I am hitting following message.

An error had occurred, see the log file.
<Path...>\eclipse\configuration\1337714409296.log

Pasting a part of log:

Can anyone please help me know what should be done while installing Eclipse Classic correctly.

Thanks in advance,

Off hand it looks like it was not extracted properly. Exactly which file did you download and how did you extract it?

To expand on Nitin's question, did you try to run the installer from within your extraction program without extracting the entire contents of the archive?

I have the same problem. I clicked 'Eclipse classic 3.7.2' on the Eclipse downloads page, I downloaded eclipse-SDK-3.7.2-win32.zip
then I unzipped it, and run eclipse.exe from there. There is no msi installer in this file.

It worked ok on Windows 7 (with administrator right), but not on Win server 2003 (probably without admin right, but not sure). This Win2003 machine seems to have JRE 1.4.2-06 (visible in the list of programs in the control panel of Win).

I'll probably try another Eclipse download package, unless you have another idea.

For your information, ...

Eclipse isn't "installed", hence no .msi file. (This was a good decision
on the part of Eclipse developers.)

JRE 1.4 is laughable. It's been a long time since Eclipse ran on Java 4.
Don't be surprised.

I've upgraded the Java environment to Java 7, and Eclipse Classic now works.
Thanks for the tip.
