Hello,
I'm starting a team (Motorola, Austin) that is chartered to build a new
suite of User eXperience tools (UI) for our Linux/Java phone platform.
These tools will be internal focused, with the audience being our teams
(developers, graphic designers) who build the system applications in our
Linux/Java based phones (ex. Main Menu, Phonebook, Messaging, etc.).
We will use Eclipse as our base framework and we hope to use a combination
of existing Eclipse.org project and third-party plug-ins. The main tool
will be used by designers to create the screens, screen layout, event
model coding, simulation preview, etc. Basically, anything that
developers/designers need to create the next-generation of our phone UI.
I'm looking to hire 1-2 engineers who have experience building IDEs/RAD
tools using Eclipse. I need someone who can help make sure we are taking
advantage of the projects and plug-ins on the market. The job would be a
mix of architect/design/code for the Eclipse-based tools we create. Java
experience, as it relates to creating Eclipse based products, is a must.
Hands-on experience with JavaScript and XML is required. SVG
experience/knowledge is a nice-to-have, but not required.
Formal high-level job description:
Department Description Mobile Devices, Architecture and Advanced
Technology, User Interface technology development team. Develops and
enhances software user interface technology for use with Linux+Java mobile
devices.
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations Participate in a team that
develops advanced user interface software technology for use in Motorola
Linux+Java mobile devices. This role is crucial to the successful
introduction of the next generation Linux+Java handsets. Primary task is
to lead a team that works with the Linux+Java platform team and our UI
designers, and creates new UI technologies for integration into future
handsets.
Specific Knowledge/Skills 3 - 5 years overall software development
experience (with 4+ years working on user interface development)
-MS/BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
-C/C++, Java, JavaScript
-HTML, xHTML, XML, SGML
-Qt/GTK/SVG
-Self starter, highly motivate, strong leadership and mentoring skills,
good technical negotiation skils and good teamwork skills are attributes
for a successful candidate
