I have Eclipse 3.1. (I updated eclipse) I have JDK 1.5.0 (downloaded from
sun Summer 2004).
I altered the JVM to 1.5 by doing: Window | Preferences | Java | Installed
JRE. I had it search and if found jdk1.5.0 which I made the default. That
went fine.
I created a Java Project. I then created a Visual Java Class and it all
was created and compiled.
I then decided to alter the compiler settings. So I went to Window |
Preferences | Compiler and choose for JDK Compliance 5.0 instead of 1.4
for a Java Swing class. Says the compiler settings have changed. A full
rebuild is required for changes to take effect. Do the full build now? I
said Yes.
I then (within my above project) tried to create another Visual Java
class. When I set it up and pressed "Finish" I got the following popup
(which has title bar of "New"):
"Creation of element failed.
org/eclipse/ve/internal/jfc/codegen/jjet/wizards/contributor s/JContentPaneGe
(Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)"
Can you please tell me what the problem is? (Note this is for my lab set
up. At home I recently downloaded JDK 1.5 from SUN and put Eclipse on and
did all the above and got no errors).
Thank You,
Gail
