Hi,

I'm very new to Eclipse and Java, but not to software development and writing code. I've downloaded and installed XAMPP (includes Apache, Tomcat, MySQL, Filezilla and Mercury and all seem to be behaving themselves) and deployed an AXIS2 War file to Tomcat(tomcat listens on http:\\127.0.0.1:8090), I think successfully.

I'm keen to develop a web service in Java using Eclipse and to deploy it to Tomcat. The ultimate aim is to write a piece of PHP that Apache serves and that calls this web service. I'll need to go through it slowly but wondered where to start really and if there is a good web resource that goes through this in some detail?

Thanks
Pat

There's a separate Eclipse forum for PHP development questions where
you'll find more birds of that feather.

Hi,

Thanks for that.

The first question I have is about eclipse, as I've not got to writing any
PHP yet.

I use the link below to create the web service in eclipse
but when it comes to starting Tomcat, eclipse can't start it. If I start
Tomcat first, Eclipse says the Tomcat ports are in use. I've installed
Tomcat aspart of xampp and it looks ok.

It's installed in E:\program files\xampp\tomcat

I use a sencide link to create the webservice, and it looks as it should, I think. I'm not allowed to post a link yet. It looks ok to my inexpert eyes.

Thanks again
Pat
