RAP app with BIRT--is there a way to use interactivity [message #847295] Tue, 17 April 2012 03:10 Go to next message

Hello,

We've created an RAP application that has BIRT integrated for a dashboard view--several views that have up to eight different graphs that update simultaneously. All of our BIRT integration is through the Chart API, and we're really pleased with the app responsiveness. The problem is that we can't take advantage of all of the interactivity features of the BIRT Charts since we need to render by using the PNG renderer. As noted several places in the documentation, we can't use the SWT renderer as we're in RAP.

Are there any approaches that we can take to render with an appropriate RAP renderer that will expose the interactivity options in the framework (e.g., mouseover, drill-down, triggers in general)? Is there an RWT version of the SWT renderer that could make this a possibility, or another approach that we could take?

Thanks for any guidance!

Lawrence

Hi Lawrence,

We are also using BIRT in our RAP applications and have run into similar limitations. Unfortunately, we have found that it would be considerable work to make an RWT renderer that would allow the interactivity supported by the SWT renderer.
