Trying to understand the current state of the art for Eclipse Logging as
it relates to Enterprise class functionality, Workbench integration and
OSGi compatibility.

There are a lot of choices, but they all seem incomplete ...

- the org.eclipse.equinox.log_1.1.0.v20071203.jar
and an alternative org.eclipse.equinox that is in the equinox incubator.

- the Extend Log Service bug at
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=147824
which relates to the incubator work, but that does not seem to have
worked on for a while. Is it still considered to be

- PAX
http://wiki.ops4j.org/confluence/display/ops4j/Pax+Logging

- several plugins to enhance the workbench some that sort of work others
that don't.

- and of course slf4j, log4j, and logback.

Is there a current direction in within the equinox effort to provide
this functionality?

If not what are people doing on their own?

thanks for any input,
John Conlon
