Markus Herrmannsdoerfer wrote on Sun, 15 April 2012 16:33Hi Scott,
I am the contact person / project leader of the Edapt project. Jonas is
a committer to the project. The update site was published in 11/2011.
How can I help you?
Hi Markus,
I'm working with an organization that's considering using edapt, and they would just like to understand where the project is and where it's going. For example, edapt is in incubation right now (congratulations!)...are there plans/timeline for moving to be a mature project? How many committers are working on it/supporting it these days? Are all those committers from a single company, or are they from multiple (what companies)? Is edapt going to be participating in the Juno simultaneous release this year? If not, what are your plans for future releases?
Are there major plans for changes/additions to edapt over the next year? If so, what are they?
We/they would just like to get a clearer idea of where the project is going, when/what releases are likely in the coming year, and whether/how much support will be available via the project committers.
Thanks very much for any further info. edapt seems like a great idea...and I'm looking forward to working with it.
Scott

Hi Scott,
thank you for your interest in Edapt and sorry for the delay, I was on
holidays last week. Please find my answers to your questions below.

I have recently changed my employer. Therefore I do not know at this
time how much effort I will be able to spend on Edapt in the future
apart from my free time.

One of the project leads is from itemis and two of the committers are
from EclipseSource. So there is different companies involved.
Additionally we have had some support from Marintek, who are also using
Edapt.

Probably not. We will join the release train once we graduated from
incubation, which is planned for next year.

We are mostly going to address infrastructure issues, such as
documentation, build server and tests.

The amount of effort the other companies are willing to invest via their
committers is definitely depending on how many paying customers use
Edapt. To be honest, to date there is not many paying users. There are
definitely committers qualified to provide commercial support though.

Thanks, I spent a great deal of effort to get it where it is now, so
great to hear that it might be of use for you!
Cheers,
Markus

Additionally we have had some support from Marintek, who are also using
Edapt.
It's possible that the interested party might be able to contribute some resources to help maintain Edapt.

I don't quite understand what you mean by 'paying customers' for edapt. Paying to whom (and for what)?

It might be of use to the interested company, but there are a couple of apparent bugs...that are preventing assessment of it's actual use...here they are:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=377036
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=377037
If you or one of the other committers could have a look at these...and help move them forward...or at least comment...so that Dmitri can do further assessment of edapt for the project's needs...it would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

Unfortunately, the project inbox does not seem to work so we did not get
notified about the bug reports. I took a look at the bug reports. I need
some more input (the ecore file) so I can reproduce the errors.
