possibility to use Hyades/TPTP for testing Eclipse plug-ins? [message #9579] Wed, 09 March 2005 17:17 Go to next message

I’m evaluating hyades(3.2)/tptp and wonder if I can use it to test
eclipse plug-ins. I would like to have a combination of PDE-JUnit and
Hyades. After browsing through the documentation, I haven’t found any
hint that such function is already built in the framework. This brings
me to my questions:
(1) Is there such feature? Is such feature planed for next releases?
Does anyone know a practical way to test plug-in with hyades? Is there a
source for additional documentation or examples?
(2) If there is no one done this before, it seems to me that I have to
extend the tptp by building a custom test execution environment in a
similar way as described in the EclipseCon 2005 Tutorial for a Perl
execution environment. Would this be the best way or do you know one easier?

Thanks,

Stephan

Test what/how? Function? Performance?

Depending on your what/how, see

http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/project_info/featureplans/f eatures.php?source=All&project=All&release=4.0&f ile=TPTPFeatures_4.xml

and scroll way down to

Could you send me a pointer to that? I was formerly a perl coder and
would love to see more eclipse perl tooling.

My focus is on functional testing.

Thanks, this seems to be the needed feature. But unfortunatly, if I
understand the relase plan right, I have to wait at least for milestone
4.0i4, which will come out somewhere in the summer...
