Hi friends,
I m new to TPTP - AGR... and also automation testing...

I would like to know how do i perform automation testing using AGR ?
Suppose i record UI events, save the file and run it in standard mode, i
get some verdict, here my question is,
1. on what basis does the tool generate a verdict ??
2. How can i perform automation testing in a project??

Hi Amit,

Thanks for your interest in the AGR.

For a full tutorial on how to get started with the AGR including how to =
write and execute Automated GUI tests with TPTP, please see:
http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/test/documents/userguides/Intro- Auto-GUI-4-4-=
0.html

To answer your other question, the runner will report a failure if any =
of the commands fail on playback (for example, if an item-select cannot =
resolve the widget it is to select). Most often, it is a resolution =
failure for which you will see the Macro line on which it failed and a =
brief description of the failure. Sometimes, it may be a time out (while =
waiting for a job to complete or waiting for a dialog to appear).

Failures can also be caused by assertion failures in verification hooks. =
These will be reported as such in the execution results, giving the name =
of the verification class and the line on which it failed.

Please let me know if you have further questions once you get started.

Sincerely,

Liz Dancy

Hi,

Thanks for your prompt reply, but i am facing a problem such as,

if i record a test case and run it in standard mode, it gives a verdict
saying pass. and when i run it for the second time or something the
verdict may change, so i am not understanding what d problem is.

Secondly, whenever the test fails or something, is d info given sufficient
for d developers to find out the defect ?

Thirdly, i have gone through the tutorial, but still am facing problems,
since the latter part is complex (after the context creation). Actually i
want to know how automation testing is usually done in a project.

is it like i run d script for Ex: build 1.0 and run d same script again
and check for the result for build 1.1 ?

Thank You,
Amit
