Hi,

Since in Eclipse 4 there is now a DI container and Xtext uses Guice, how do these two go together? It feels weird to use two separate DI containers, do you consider moving to the Eclipse DI (in case it works for Xtext)?

best regards,
Vlad

Hi Vlad,

no we don't have any plans to move from Guice to another DI container.

You may want to follow the discussion here:

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

Ok, thanks for the info. But won't it be a little confusing to use two different DI containers at the same time? (I know it's confusing even with only one Smile ) Hopefully no class will need to get values injected from both containers, but even so...

regards,
Vlad

So, that's a bit weird. Replying to an email from 2009, but still I think it might be worth it. I am looking for the Xtext status and plans to meet the e4 workbench.
In the answer from this post, the referenced bug is verified fixed, so this kind of let's me think the discussion is closed on the @Creatable annotation. Is this still blocking for the Xtext folks? What do you plan to do? Will you drop Guice and adopt jsr-330 and the e4 implementation of it?

I might be wrong on the details, but what I want and need to know is, will there be a dependency and likes on Guice for the future?

Please share your thoughts, Sven, Sebastian, Jan others maintaining the great Xtext!
