Can't make TPTP work on my eclipse [message #97486] Tue, 01 May 2007 16:05 Go to next message

Hi!

I can't get the Profiler to run on my eclipse platform, even when I follow
the tutorial:
- I create a profiling configuration
- I add a set of classes to include in the profiling
- I run the profiler
- I can see the status bar being updated with events counts and bytes
processed...

and there, nothing appears in the log view or the graphs or anywhere else.
I can't even seem to find the view described in "select your monitor,
right-click and select Open With > Execution Flow"

am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks for your help!

Guillaume.

Guillaume,

Please provide us with the following information:
- Operating System type and version
- Architecture (32 bit, 64 bit)?
- Eclipse version

Thanks,
Asaf

Sorry, here we go:

- Windows XP 32bits
- Eclipse
** Version: 3.2.2
** Build id: M20070212-1330
- TPTP
** Monitoring Tools Project v4.2.3
** Platform Project v4.2.4
** Profiling for Web application v4.2.1
** Reporting with BIRT v4.2.0
** Testing Tools Project v4.2.4

Also, I discovered that when right-clicking on the log view, I had the
following error log generated twice:

Invalid Menu Extension (Path is invalid):
org.eclipse.tptp.symptom.internal.actions.ConfigureAnalysisA ctionDelegate

An exception stack trace is not available.

I don't know if it is related, but I though I'd mention it.

Hope this helps!

Guillaume.

Is the Profiling and Logging perspective available (can be selected from
the menu: Window > Open Perspective > Other...)?

If so, switch to this perspective and open the Profiling Monitor view
(Window > Show View > Other... Profiling and Logging > Profiling Monitor).

If this view is available, you should see a node describing the
application you profile, and you can use it to open any of the relevant
analysis views as described in the documentation.

Probably not :) If the views are not available, you may have a
configuration problem. One common reason is that you didn't install the
EMF plugin. Please make sure that all prerequisites (as described in the
TPTP download page) are properly installed.

Asaf

Hi Asaf!

Unfortunately, all the views are present, but they stay empty whatever I
do (oh and EMF is present too)... however, I successfully ran TPTP on
another machine with a brand new installation of Eclipse!

I don't know what is happening with my current version of Eclipse, but I
can see what I need to do next: reinstall everything from scratch!

Thanks anyway!

Guillaume.
