Is it possible to put a buckminster component into a p2 as an installable unit?

Not afaik. There is no publisher of p2 meta data for a buckminster
component. There is simply not enough information as a buckminster
component is very generic. Although the dependencies are there it is not
possible to derive any installation instructions.

If you want to write a p2 publisher, you can naturally use the
information in the buckminster metadata as the source for dependencies.
