Hi

1.
For a crosstab report I'm creating, I want to sum up over country/city/department going down and month going across. Each of country/city/department has an ID code and Name string. I've got the report basically working and it looks okay, however, in the data cube's group it's created a separate level for each ID and Name, so in the Outline view I see 6 levels when intuitively there's only 3 (since I'm never going to subtotal separately for each ID and Name pair).

I tried dragging the fields around in the Cube Builder to include each ID & Name pair in the same level, but it just reordered them within the same 6 levels. I tried hiding the groups for the names, but that removed their columns from the crosstab. I tried removing the group levels for the Names in the Cube Builder and inserting the name data back into the levels' Cells with the IDs, but they didn't appear in the Available Column Bindings when setting the new Data elements' expressions. Also, in the grid the new elements appeared below the IDs rather than next to them.

So is using 6 levels the "proper" way to work with this, or is there something better?

2.
Secondly, given I've got 6 columns in the left part of the crosstab, I'd like to include column headers for them. But when I tried adding 6 labels into the Header section of the Crosstab element, they are displayed one below the other (each taking the full width of the Header) rather than side by side. How can I get them to line up across the top of their respective fields? It seems a fairly obvious requirement whenever there are more than a couple of levels in a crosstab's Row group.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Andy

Andy,

Could the group issue be handled by creating a computed column on the
data set that combines the two fields? Then use this field when
creating the cube.
