History of selected resource broken? [message #784247] Fri, 27 January 2012 03:45 Go to next message

Hi, I just installed/upgraded EGit and JGit in Eclipse to version 1.2.0.201112221803-r .

Now if I select a file and right-click -> Team -> Show in History ...
I expect to see only the commits which affect this selected file.

However I see all commits on the whole repository.

I don't think this is right? Is this a bug?

This is damn annoying...

Are you running the Show In History action from the context menu in an open editor or from selecting a file from a view such as Package Explorer?

Works ok in 1.3.x.

Make sure you haven't activated either of the following history toolbar items (if they exist in 1.2 -- I don't remember when these were introduced):

"Show all changes in project containing the selected resource" or
"Show all changes in parent folder of the selected resource"

Activating either of these will of course show many more commits, possibly all of them. That's what they're intended to do.

I tried it both from the in-editor context menu (open file), or from the context menu of the selected item in the package explorer.

I also remember playing around with some buttons that should affect the scope of the showed history, but didn't seem to have any effect.
Will retry and confirm ASAP.

Hmm, I think I just got the buttons wrong indeed.
Sorry about this! Keep up the great work! Couldn't live without this!
