I am new to Eclipse. When I try to import java packages and enter the name, such as java.awt, when I enter the dot, it opens up a pulldown list, and then closes the application. I then have to restart Eclipse. What am I doing wrong?

It is a strange problem. Did you try to re-install the IDE?

This looks like it crashes due to the browser widget. Search Platform
SWT for related bug reports.
