After the move to xtext 2.x a number of my junit tests that passed in 1.x
are now failing because of assertions in
SerializerTests.assertEqualWithEmfFormatter. I am trying to understand the
purpose of this assertion and whether I can/should disable it.

Hi,

it simply test that input model file = parsed model file serialized again. so may ommit this test.
