I have upgraded from eclipse 3.0 (which comes with SUSE9.3) to eclipse 3.1

I have downloaded eclipse_sdk_3.1_linux_gtk_x86_64.tar.gz and then
unpacked these files to replace the files in /usr/share/eclipse (deleting
the old files first)
(I am using an athlon 64bit system)

SUSE9.3 comes with 1.4.2 but there is also a 1.5.0 (64 bit) version so I
installed that in addition to the 1.4.2 version.

I started eclipse and changed java to 1.5 but when I try to compile and
run a program eclipse crashes as shown below, can anyone suggest how I can
find the reason?

Eclipse generates the required class files before the crash.
Eclipse works correctly with this program on my Windows 32bit system.

When the program crashes it stops just showing a dialog box with title
'error' and contents:

/usr/lib64/jvm/java/bin/java
-Xms64M
-Xmx256M
-jar
/usr/share/eclipse/startup.jar
-os
linux
-ws
gtk
-arch
x86_64
-launcher
/usr/share/eclipse/eclipse
-name
Eclipse
-showsplash
600
-exitdata
160005
-data
/home/martin/workspace/
-vm
/usr/lib64/jvm/java/bin/java
-vmargs
-Xms64M
-Xmx256M
-jar
/usr/share/eclipse/startup.jar

I think I have just found an answer to my own question. I have found
another place where I need to change the JRE:

window -> preferences -> java -> compiler -> compiler compliance level ->
5.0

This stops the program crashing.

All I need to do now is find a 64bit version of JOGL and my program should
run.

Sorry to take up your time.
