Linking with "recreate folder structure" makes resource locations unresolvable [message #765183]

I can use IResource.getLocation() to obtain absolute locations of the project files. Yet, when you drop a folder into Eclipse project with "recreate folder structure", this getLocation() method returns null. How can I locate the dir in this case or disable the option? Thanks.
