[xdoc] how to enable PDF builds? [message #754951] Sat, 05 November 2011 19:15 Go to next message

Hi,

the default build generates Eclipse Help and Eclipse Phoenix web pages. Both is beloved. If I remember the demo at EclipseCon correctly there is also a way to generate PDFs. Is this correct? If so, how can I generate PDFs from xdoc?

Thanks,
Marcel

It looks like I have a wrong understanding how to use xdoc to generate the documentation.

What I did:
* checkout xdoc sources from https://github.com/RvonMassow/xDoc
* build xdoc with maven
* installed Xtext from Marketplace
* installed xdoc from the generated local repository
* create a new Eclipse Help project
* modified a single file which seemed to trigger in a project builder that automatically generates the eclipse help files as well as the webpage files.

Neither preference nor project property pages allow me to configure the latex export. I'm not used to common Xtext workflows - thus I just might miss some important facts. Can you point me to some documentation or explain how to use/configure the latex builder?

Thanks,
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

this is currently not implemented for Xdoc and we don't have concrete
plans to put efforts into a preference page and the like since the pdf
generation would be quite slow as a builder participant. The latex
builder is used by the xtext.doc project which is available in git.

Regards,
Sebastian

Thanks Sebastian. I'll have a look there.
